Lowe’s owns the Kobalt brand, which is one of their own. Before it went out of business, the Masters Home Improvement chain in Australia, a joint venture between Lowe’s and Kobalt, used the Kobalt tool brand as its house brand over other tool brands.

When it comes to making Kobalt tools, Lowe’s controls the brand but outsources the manufacturing to a third-party firm.

Up until 2003, the Danaher Corporation was the manufacturing partner that made Kobalt tools for Lowe’s. Now Kobalt tools are manufactured by Chervon, the 2020 Lowe’s Vendor Partner of the year for the Tools division.

Who is Chervon, the manufacturer of Kobalt tools?

Chervon, the company that makes Kobalt power tools and hand tools, has been in operation since 1993. Chervon, one of the world’s major manufacturers of power tools, also produces brands like Skil.

Chervon also manufactures power tools for competitors such as Menards and Sears, as well as Kobalt products for Lowe’s.

What kinds of tools does Kobalt produce?

For Lowe’s, Kobalt produces a wide range of tools under the Lowe’s house brand. Many of the tools made by Kobalt, many of which can be obtained at Lowe’s, have been compiled by House Grail.

Kobalt makes corded power tools and cordless power tools, including table saws, sanders, impact wrenches, drills, drivers, routers, and batteries. Air tools, like compressors and air grinders, are also manufactured by Kobalt.

Lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and sprayers are just some of the outdoor tools that Kobalt makes. Hand tools are also made by Kobalt; these include sockets, pliers, screwdrivers, and torque wrenches, as well as utility knives and hammers. Mechanic’s hand tools can also be found under the Kobalt tools brand.

Kobalt tools manufactured for Lowe’s can’t compete with the best tools brands out there, but a Kobalt product is still better quality than many other brands at no extra cost.

Many Kobalt Tools Are Manufactured in the United States of America

Kobalt Miter saws and accessories have been produced in Taiwan since 2020 by the business Rexon Industrial Corporation, while other power tools are manufactured in China.

Many of Kobalt’s hand tools, on the other hand, are still built in the United States by various Lowe’s suppliers. This makes buying tools that are made in the United States pretty easy at Lowe’s.

How reliable are Kobalt tools?

There are a large number of positive reviews about Kobalt tools on the Internet.

Given that Lowe’s sells Kobalt tools, they’re often more reasonably priced than comparable products from other manufacturers, making them an excellent investment.

DeWalt and Milwaukee have been compared to Kobalt tools. When it comes to sockets, wrenches, and pliers, House Grail says that Kobalt’s are up there with the best on the market.

Are Kobalt tools a Lowe’s brand?

As a house brand, Kobalt tools are only available at Lowe’s. If you shop at Lowe’s, you’re likely to find Kobalt tools at a lower price than their competitors.

However, it has been suggested that Kobalt is competing at Lowe’s with competitor CRAFTSMAN, due to arrangements between Lowe’s and manufacturers.

Bottom Line

Chervon, the company that makes the Kobalt tools for Lowe’s, produces them. Despite the fact that Lowe’s owns Kobalt and counts it as one of its own brands, the company does not make its own tools, instead of turning to countries like Taiwan and China for this work.

As a result of their vast selection of tools and affordable costs, Lowe’s brand Kobalt has become a popular choice for customers.
