Grocery stores often carry alcohol, making it easy to replenish your supply for a party or simply to have on hand for your own consumption. According to state legislation, not all supermarkets carry alcohol.

So, you might be wondering if Aldi offers alcoholic beverages at any of its more than 2,000 US locations. Everything you’ll need to know is right here.

In 2022, Does Aldi sell alcohol?

As of 2022, most Aldi outlets will be able to sell alcohol. Alcohol regulations vary from state to state, and even from one city to the next.

As little as $3 for a six-pack and going up to $70 for a specialty bottle, Aldi offers a wide selection of beer, wine, hard seltzers, and hard ciders.

Aldi has a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, and you can discover more about them by reading on!

What alcoholic beverages does Aldi sell?

When it comes to booze, Aldi stores that sell it have a surprising variety for a brand known for small, no-frills grocery stores. This list includes:

Aldi’s beer, like its other common items, copies well-known brand names, such as White Tide Belgian White Ale for Blue Moon and Independence Harbor Amber Ale for Sam Adams.

Aldi also sells six- and four-packs of its own bock, lagers, IPAs, pilsners, blonde ales, and Cerveza. Seeing a limited assortment of Budweiser or Bud Light on the shelf isn’t an exaggeration.

And Aldi occasionally collaborates with local/regional brewery partners to stock their products.

Wine is the most popular alcoholic beverage at Aldi. Aldi provides more than 90 varieties of red wine alone! Their Winking Owl label is both palatable and surprisingly inexpensive, costing no more than $4 per bottle.

The Quarter Cut Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon, which earned the 2020 wine award from Product of the Year USA, stands out among their other reds. It costs simply ten dollars.

Aldi also provides a wide choice of white wines, including pinots, sauvignon blancs, chardonnays, and rieslings.

Also available are sparkling wines, rosés, dessert wines, and other unique concoctions, such as their tiny chocolate wine.

Aldi also sells Winking Owl boxed wine, which contains three liters of vino for a substantially cheaper price than other boxed wines on the market, in addition to bottles (yes, even Franzia).

Hard Beverages

When it comes to hard seltzer or avoiding carbohydrates, Aldi’s Vista Bay label has you covered (a White Claw dupe).

It’s possible to get a 12-pack of their Black Cherry or Coconut Mango flavors, or a six-pack of either. Wicked Grove Hard Cider (like Angry Orchard) and hard root beer are also available.

Specialty Items

The weekly Aldi Finds promotions, in addition to expanding Aldi’s standard stock of booze, bring in a variety of specialized goods.

Even though it costs over $100, people flock to buy the wine Advent calendar that made headlines earlier this year.

How Much Does Aldi’s Liquor Cost?

Depending on the type, Aldi’s booze costs anywhere from $5 to $20, but that’s still far less than the average grocery store pricing.

Wine prices range from $3.50 to $20. The majority of Aldi’s wine, however, is priced under $10 a bottle.

Seltzer six-packs are less expensive than six-packs of beer, with the variety pack clocking in at around $12, whereas beers cost between five and seven dollars each six.

Are Spirits Sold at Aldi?

In the US, Aldi does offer spirits, but you won’t be able to get hold of any. Aldi, on the other hand, restricts its award-winning spirits to European and Australian outlets alone.

What U.S. states does Aldi sell alcohol in?

There are now more than 1,400 of Aldi’s more than 2,000 locations where you may buy alcohol.

Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin are just some of the states that make up the Union.

However, keep in mind that not all stores in these states carry alcohol. Using the Find A Shop Locator, input your location and check the “Beer” and “Wine” store features to see if an Aldi near you offers alcohol.

Where Can I Find Aldi’s Alcohol?

Where the booze is located may vary from one shop to the next, but the last aisle of a supermarket is usually where you’ll find it. Once you’ve discovered the aisle, you don’t need to look any farther.

Does Aldi have a limit on the amount of alcohol that may be purchased?

A couple of Aldi shop associates confirmed that there is no restriction on the amount of alcohol you may buy from the supermarket.

If you’re coming from out of state and planning on buying a lot of booze, you’ll want to know this information. Only “how much your automobile can fit” is a true constraint.

Are the Beer and Wine at Aldi of Quality?

Although everyone’s palates are different, the beer and wine are typically well-liked. Even a beer expert was called in by Thrillist to rate Aldi’s store-brand beers from best to worst.

The Folded Mountains pale ale came in last, while the Wernesgrüner, a pilsner brewed in Germany since the 1400s, took the top spot.

When it comes to IPAs, Third Street Brewhouse Hop Lift IPA is an excellent choice – plus it’s brewed right here in Minnesota!

Many of Aldi’s wines have won awards, including their Quarter Cut Bourbel Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon, Piretto Pino Grigio, Crystal Creek Cellars Chardonnay, Moisello Sparkling Moscato, and Outlander Heritage, to mention a few.

Can Alcohol Be Purchased Online at Aldi?

With Instacart, you can get alcohol from Aldi online. In 2019, Aldi began selling alcohol through Instacart, just in time for the Christmas season, which was the first year the service was available.

There are, however, two things to keep in mind while placing an order for alcoholic beverages over the internet.

Just to start off with, it isn’t available in every store that offers delivery or pick-up through Instacart. Instacart’s “Explore” page is the best place to find out whether your local business has it. In the “Alcohol” area, you may place an order.

If you’re under the age of 21, you can’t order alcohol through Instacart, as you would in any other situation in the US.

Your shopper will verify your age and scan the front and/or back of your ID when they arrive, says the company’s website.

Have your driver’s license on hand when they deliver your bags out of the store, and you’re good to go. If you want to have your item delivered, you will be required to be present when it arrives.

The site also says that in some situations, consumers can submit their ID information ahead of time, although this facility is not available to everyone.

Bottom Line

When it comes to alcohol, Aldi does provide a wide selection considering its reputation as a low-cost retailer. In addition, their beer and wine selections aren’t going to break the wallet.

However, not every business sells alcohol, and this is determined by municipal and state regulations.
