How Can You Buy Lottery Tickets At Walmart?

A valid government-issued picture ID and adequate cash are required to purchase lottery tickets at your local Walmart shop. Lottery tickets may be purchased at the customer service counter once you’ve arrived at your destination.

  • Toss a coin to see how many digits between 1 and 69 and 1 to 26 you get.
  • The number on your lottery ticket will be generated at random by a machine.

Next, pick the number of games you wish to participate in, i.e. the number of draws your ticket is good for, and pay for your participation. In addition to your ticket, you’ll receive a receipt for your purchase.

Are There Any Requirements To Buy Lottery Tickets At Walmart?

In order to purchase lottery tickets at Walmart, you must satisfy the following two criteria:

  • You must be of legal age, which is currently 18. Walmart will use your picture ID to verify this information.
  • You have enough cash on hand to pay for the tickets, as no other form of payment is allowed.

What Is The Minimum Cost Of A Lottery Ticket?

One draw can be purchased for a minimum of $2 on both Powerball and Mega Millions lotto tickets.
You can boost your chances of winning the lottery by purchasing multiples of $2 in order to participate in more drawings. 

Bottom Line

Except for the states of Nevada, Alaska, Hawaii, Utah and Alabama, Walmart does actually sell lottery tickets at its shops across the United States. If you’re older than 18, you’re allowed to purchase both Powerball and Mega Millions tickets. Walmart, on the other hand, will only accept cash as payment.
