Does Walgreens Develop Film

By David Krug 4 minute read

All 8000+ Walgreen stores in the United States have a dedicated “photo lab” where customers can get their photos developed.

If you’re still using a film camera, you’re probably wondering if Walgreens can develop film for you. Everything I’ve learned about this subject is here!

In 2022, will Walgreens be able to process film?

A 24-exposure roll of 35mm film costs $14.99 at Walgreens ‘photo labs,’ and a free digital photo CD is included. These can be picked up within three to five business days. Even APS, 110, and 127 film, negatives, and disposable cameras can be processed in some establishments, but this is rare. If you’re unsure if your Walgreens offers this service, it’s a good idea to call ahead of time.

Please continue reading if you want to learn more about the types of films produced by Walgreen’s, their costs and delivery times, and other options besides ordering prints.

In what ways does Walgreens contribute to the film industry?

Film for 35mm cameras is developed in all Walgreens locations with photo shops. Some stores, on the other hand, have the ability to process 110 and 127 film in addition to 35mm.

Because not all Walgreens locations process these additional types of film, you’ll need to inquire ahead of time with the store about their photo lab’s capabilities.

Do Walgreens’ Disposable Cameras Produce Film?

There are a few Walgreens locations where you can have your disposable or single-use camera’s film developed. Although this service may not be offered at all photo labs, it is a good idea to call ahead and inquire about it.

How Much Does Walgreens Charge For Film Development?

It costs $14.99 per 24 exposures to develop 35mm film into 4×6-inch prints. 8 x 10 prints of the same film type are available for $3.99 each.

Getting 12, 24, 27, 36, and 39 exposures on 35mm film, as well as 46 prints, will cost you the following, as shown in this table:

Due to the fact that not all Walgreens locations offer the service of developing 110 or 127 film, the company has not published official prices for those formats.

In what period of time does Walgreens develop a film?

The Walgreens photo lab will have your film ready for pickup in 3-5 business days after you deposit it. Walgreens is taking so long to develop your film because they outsource the process to a third party.

Is there a photo lab in every Walgreens store?

It is possible to have your film developed at most Walgreens locations. There are no such services in specialty stores, such as stand-alone Walgreens pharmacies.

Use the Walgreens store locator to find the location, phone number and hours of operation of Walgreens stores in your area and call them to inquire about film development services.

When Do Walgreens Photo Labs Take Film Submissions?

At Walgreens photo labs, you can drop off your film at any time during regular store hours for processing. Stores that are open 24 hours a day are included in this category. At any time during regular business hours, you can also pick up your processed film and photos from the store.

You can always use the Walgreens store locator if you’re unsure of the store’s regular operating hours in your neighborhood.

Is There Anything Else You Could Do With Your Pictures?

As well as prints of your photos, you can get a CD of all developed images from your film.

Photo CDs created from film or negatives cost an additional $10.48 and $5.99, respectively, in the past.

Walgreens, on the other hand, has eliminated this additional fee and now includes a free photo CD with your $14.99 purchase of 24 exposures.

When the film has been developed, will you be able to pick up your negatives or originals?

Once the film has been developed, you will not receive your negatives or originals. If you buy film from a retailer, they’ll typically dispose of the original film or negatives after processing it.

You can purchase a photo CD that contains all of your images in digital format if you want to have a backup. If you’re purchasing the basic $14.99 package for 24 exposures, you’ll get this included in your prints for free.

Is Walgreens a Negative Environment?

Negatives are, in fact, developed at the vast majority of Walgreens locations with photo labs.

Bottom Line

Walgreens does, in fact, offer 35mm film development in all of its photo labs, with a 24-exposure package costing $14.99 and including a free photo CD with all of the results. You can get 110 and 127 film, negatives, and disposable cameras developed at some stores. Your processed photos will be ready in 3-5 business days at Walgreens.
