Digital wallets such as Google Pay and Samsung Pay have become much more user-friendly thanks to the advent of contactless payment methods.

You may be wondering if Kroger accepts Google Pay and Samsung Pay because the supermarket chain has implemented contactless payments in all of its US stores. The following is the conclusion I’ve preached!

In 2022, does Kroger accept Google Pay and Samsung Pay?

As of 2022, Kroger will no longer accept Google Pay or Samsung Pay for payment at the register.

Instead, Kroger Pay, an Android software, may be downloaded by smartphone users to pay wirelessly at self-checkouts and registers by scanning QR codes.

So, if you’re interested in finding out where you can use Google Pay and Samsung Pay, how to sign up for Kroger Pay, and more, keep reading!

Why Does Kroger Not Accept Google Pay and Samsung Pay?

Contactless payment options were trialed at all 61 Kroger shops in Washington’s Puget Sound region and Portland, Oregon, beginning in 2020.

In order to enhance and customize the shopping experience for customers, Kroger Pay intends to expedite checkouts, according to the company’s management.

For their own in-house app Kroger Pay, Kroger opted to employ QR codes after conducting a pilot (see more below).

Following its own mobile payment option, the firm withdrew most other mobile/contactless payment options, including Google Pay and Samsung Pay, at all of its outlets.

How is Kroger Pay implemented?

In 2020, Kroger will introduce Kroger Pay, an in-house contactless mobile payment technology that securely integrates payment and loyalty card information to handle payments for customers.

A one-time fast response QR code is generated for you when you ask the cashier to process your payment using Kroger Pay at the time of check out.

A simple QR code scan at the payment terminal lets you utilize Kroger Pay by transmitting your payment and loyalty card information to the PIN pad in a matter of seconds. You may find out more about Kroger Pay by visiting this webpage.

What further contactless methods of payment does Kroger accept?

Kroger locations around the country accept the following contactless payment methods:

  • Improved Kroger Scan, Bag, Go technology allows consumers to pay for products by scanning them with their cellphones or mobile devices at the Kroger app’s checkout.
  • The Kroger mobile app and Kroger.com let you pay for and pick up your groceries with your SNAP/EBT card by selecting it at checkout when you place an order.

In addition, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa credit and debit cards are accepted at the Kroger store locations.

What establishments accept Google Pay and Samsung Pay?

Both Google Pay and Samsung Pay use NFC for contactless payments, however, there are some minor distinctions.

In contrast to Samsung Pay, which can only be used on Samsung devices, Google Pay may be used on any Android device, including Samsung handsets.
