In 2022, will Costco accept Visa Gift Cards as a method of payment?
As of 2022, Visa gift cards will be accepted as a form of payment in Costco’s warehouses and on Costco. MasterCard and Discover gift cards can only be used online at Costco, not in-store. We no longer accept American Express cards or products for payment at Costco.

Are Amex Gift Cards Accepted at Costco?
You cannot use American Express gift cards (or any other Amex cards) to make purchases at Costco, either in person or online.
All American Express products were rendered obsolete for Costco payments after the summer 2016 switch to Visa, even though Costco had previously partnered with American Express.
But if you find an online marketplace that sells Costco cash cards and accepts Amex credit and gift cards for payment, you can buy value in Costco cash cards that can be used in-store and online, for members and non-members alike.
Is it possible to pay with a Discover Gift Card at Costco?
Discover cards are not accepted for payment at Costco warehouses, but you can use your Discover card or Discover gift card to check out on Costco’s website if you have one.
JCB and Diner’s Club cards, as well as Discover, are accepted in Costco’s online marketplace.
Is it possible to pay with a Mastercard gift card at Costco?
Costco warehouses do not accept Mastercard gift cards as payment.
However, Costco.com accepts Mastercard credit, debit, and gift cards. For this reason, Mastercard is one of the many major credit card companies that Costco’s online shopping portal accepts.
