For every year, Amazon hires millions of individuals to work in its warehouses, offices, or as managers.

You may, however, be wondering about the amount of vacation time Amazon provides before applying for a position. Is vacation time given to part-time employees? What I learned about Amazon’s vacation policy is here!

Amazon’s 2022 Vacation Policy

As of 2022, Amazon will offer paid time off to its workers. If you’re paid hourly or on a salary, and how many hours you work each week, these factors affect how much vacation time you get. After the first year of working at Amazon, employees are entitled to more paid time off.

The Amazon Vacation Policy: What Is It?

For Amazon employees, the amount of vacation time they receive varies on whether they are paid hourly or on a fixed income. Amazon’s paid employees, for example, earn two weeks of vacation time during their first week of employment.

Three weeks of vacation time are earned by paid employees after they have worked for a year and a half.

Amazon’s hourly workers, on the other hand, receive five days of vacation time in their first year of employment and 10 days in their second year of employment.

How Many Vacation Days Do Amazon Employees Get Per Year?

Employees at Amazon are not given the same amount of vacation days. An employee’s vacation time is determined by the number of hours they put in each week rather than their salary.

Employees at Amazon can more easily estimate how much vacation time they will accrue each week since the company divides its workforce into several classifications based on job duties.

For instance, Amazon classifies its hourly employees as follows:

  • Class F (work 40 hours per week)
  • Class R (work between 30-39 hours per week)
  • Class H (work between 20-29 hours per week)

It’s worth noting that these seminars do not apply to Amazon employees in California, where employee benefits are governed by separate legislation.

How does Amazon keep track of employees’ vacation time?

Each pay month, Amazon keeps track of the vacation time taken by its workers. On a pay-period basis, Amazon employees collect paid vacation time.

As a result, the amount of vacation time an employee has accrued is shown on their pay stubs.

How Much Paid Time Off Do Amazon Hourly Workers Get in Their First Year?

As they progress through Amazon’s training program, new hires get varying amounts of paid time off (see above).

Class F employees (those who work 40 hours per week) get five days of paid vacation their first year. Class R workers (those who work 30 to 39 hours a week) get 3.75 vacation days in their first year at Amazon, on the other hand.

Part-time workers who work 20 to 29 hours per week get 2.5 vacation hours in their first year.

Do Amazon’s salaried employees get paid vacation time?

During the first year of employment at Amazon, salaried employees receive more paid vacation time than hourly employees.

In contrast, salaried employees are entitled to paid vacation time based on the amount of hours they work each week.

In the first year of employment, salaried employees who put in 40 hours or more per week are entitled to 10 days of paid vacation.

A salaried employee who works 30 to 39 hours a week is entitled to 7.5 days of paid vacation. The first year of employment includes five days of paid vacation for salaried part-time workers (20-29 hours per week).

Is there paid personal time for Amazon employees?

It is true that Amazon provides paid personal time to its workers. However, this time is earned in a different manner than paid vacation time.

On the final day of their first pay period, and every year after that, Amazon workers accrue their paid personal time, as stated on the company’s webpage.

The remaining paid personal time employees get is spread out across the remaining 11 bi-weekly pay periods, or five pay periods if you’re paid monthly.

Is There Enough Time Off for Amazon Workers?

As with paid vacation time, the amount of paid personal time an Amazon employee is entitled to depends on how many hours they work each week.

Personal time earned by Amazon workers is broken down into the following categories:

  • Temporary (20-29 hours per week) three days of work
  • Shorter workdays (30-39 hours per week) You can make money for 4.5 days
  • All of my time (40 or more hours per week) Earn six days of vacation for the price of one

Does Amazon provide paid sick leave to its employees?

Amazon provides sick time to its workers in addition to paid vacation and personal leave. Nonetheless, municipal, city, and state laws dictate how much sick leave Amazon employees are entitled to.

Does Amazon Pay Its Employees Extra On Holidays?

Working for Amazon has its perks, one of which is holiday pay at time and a half.

As a means of saying thank you for sacrificing your time on holidays, Amazon gives its employees a bonus. Included in the list of holidays that qualify for additional compensation are:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Independence Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Labor Day

Do Amazon employees get paid time off?

In order to qualify for a leave of absence, Amazon employees must provide a valid cause. Most Amazon leaves of absence are unpaid, however, with the exception of some parental and pregnancy absences as well as jury, military, and bereavement leave, all of which may be granted.

Leaves of absence can be granted for other reasons, such as:

  • Qualifying medical conditions
  • Adoption of a new child
  • Personal reasons

Depending on the length of the leave, a manager’s or HR’s certification or approval may be required for some leaves of absence at Amazon.

Bottom Line

Regardless of whether an employee is paid hourly or salaried, Amazon provides paid time off. Both full-time and part-time employees at Amazon have paid vacation time.

The number of vacation days each Amazon employee receives is directly proportional to the number of hours they put in on a weekly basis.

Thus, Amazon separates its employees into three classes (F, R and H) to make it clear how much vacation time they’ll get for their hard work.
