It’s possible that you’re wondering if Amazon accepts Google Pay. Google Pay on Amazon piqued my interest, too, so I did some research and thought I’d share what I learned.
What is Google Pay?
Google Pay is a payment platform that allows you to link your credit or debit cards to the Google Wallet mobile app. This online payment system developed by Google is free to download from the Google Play app store.
This allows you to use your mobile phone at checkout as a payment method. This is a fast and easy contactless payment option that is available at many stores that support contactless payments at check-out.
These stores will need to have an NFC POS terminal installed, however. NFC (or Near Field Communication) terminals are the most commonly used contactless payment point-of-sale terminals at most retailers.
With Google Pay, you can even send money to your friends and family through Android messages, making it a welcome alternative to sending and receiving money quickly.
Google Pay does not charge you any fees when you use your debit or credit cards, or when you make any bank transfers between your bank account and another.
You can link most major credit and debit cards to your Google Pay account, including: Visa cards, Mastercard, and Discover cards. You can even link many branded credit cards, such as a Lowe’s credit card.
Does Amazon take Google Pay in 2022?
Even though the Google Pay virtual wallet is set to become available in 2022, Amazon is not currently accepting Google Pay as a form of payment. Using Amazon Pay is similar to using Google Pay because Amazon has its own virtual wallet and stores payment information directly in an Amazon account.

Because Amazon Doesn’t Accept Google Pay
Amazon does not accept Google Pay as a payment method, and this is mainly due to the fact that Amazon would lose a great deal of valuable data if it did so.
Amazon, of course, does not accept Google Pay because it has its own digital wallet program, Amazon Pay.
Because Amazon Pay is an essential competitor to Google Pay, it makes sense that Amazon does not offer an Android version of this mobile wallet.
With Google Pay, you can make contactless payments at more than a million retail and restaurant locations.
As an online retailer, Amazon is less reliant on Google Pay, especially since the retailer already offers a digital wallet.
In the future, will Amazon accept Google Pay?
There is currently no word on whether or not Amazon will accept Google Pay in the future.
Even though Amazon hasn’t announced any plans to use Google Pay, it’s also unlikely because the e-commerce retailer will continue to focus on its own virtual wallet solution instead.
Providing an alternative to Google Pay and other similar services is Amazon’s top priority.
When it comes to online payments, it’s safe to say Amazon has invested a lot of time and money into Amazon Pay.
Is there a difference between Google Pay and Amazon Pay?
There are many regular online shoppers who prefer Amazon Pay because Amazon has no plans to accept Google Payments in the future.
Both of these payment systems support quick digital payments, but they are run by different companies and have different requirements for compatibility.
Amazon Pay does not necessitate the use of a mobile app, whereas Google Pay does. One of the best things about using Amazon Pay as a payment method is that it doesn’t require Amazon account holders to download or sign up for an app.
As long as you have an Amazon account with saved payment information, you can use Amazon Pay to make a purchase using your credit or debit card.
To use Amazon Pay while shopping on a website that accepts it, simply click the Amazon Pay button and follow the onscreen instructions.
Like PayPal, you can enjoy a faster checkout experience with Amazon Pay because it automatically fills in your billing and shipping information.
What Amazon payment methods are there?
Even though Google Pay isn’t an Amazon payment option, there are plenty of other safe ways to make a purchase.
Furthermore, Amazon accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diner’s Club (billing addresses in the United States only), JCB, NYCE, and STAR as forms of payment.
Gift cards can be used in conjunction with the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, Amazon Store Card, and Amazon Secured Card.
Online shopping giant Amazon accepts China UnionPay credit cards and Visa, MasterCard, and American Express prepaid credit cards.
SNAP EBT, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can all be used to pay for eligible items on Amazon.com (HSA).
What stores accept the Google Pay virtual wallet?
Google Pay may not be accepted on Amazon, but it can be used in stores that accept contactless payments.
When you open Google Pay, you’ll see a list of nearby stores where you can use it.
To find the nearest Starbucks or supermarket that accepts Google Pay, look for the “Use Google Pay Nearby” display on your Google Pay account.
