It’s no secret that T.J. Maxx is a favorite among Americans looking for great deals on designer clothes and home products. It is the company’s mission to provide name-brand items to customers at discounts ranging from 20 to 60 percent off of what they would pay in a comparable department store.

T.J. Maxx credit cards can be used at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra Trading Post, and Homesense, all of which are part of the TJX family of businesses. Perks include discounts for purchases made online and in-store, gift cards for future purchases, and invitations to private shopping events.

Fundamentals of using your T.J. Maxx credit card

Credit cards supplied by Synchrony Bank may be obtained at T.J. Maxx, which offers two options:

  • First, you’ll have to use the TJX Rewards Credit Card, which is a store card that can only be used on-site at participating stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, or online at participating stores’ websites.
  • The TJX Rewards Platinum Mastercard, which may be used everywhere Mastercard is accepted, is the second option available. The TJX Rewards Credit Card will be the primary topic of discussion in this piece.

To apply for the TJX Rewards Credit Card, you can do it either online or in a TJMaxx shop. You may be eligible for the Platinum Mastercard if you fulfill the credit standards. If you don’t get the Platinum, you could get the shop card instead if you apply for it. Reward certificates can be earned in both ways.

Each card’s specific phrases are largely interchangeable, with a few notable exceptions. Both have a high annual percentage rate (APR) that is subject to change in response to changes in the prime rate. Your APR will rise if the prime rate does. A decrease in the prime rate has the same effect.

You’ll earn 10% off your first online or in-store purchase if you’ve been authorized for a TJX Rewards Credit Card. Once you join the rewards program, you’ll begin accruing points. You may spend your $10 Rewards Certificate at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra Trading Post, and Homesense once you’ve accrued 1,000 reward points. Exclusive VIP shopping events are also offered to cardholders.

The TJX Rewards Credit Card: Five Things to Know

1. Earn 5% back on T.J. Maxx purchases

When you use your TJX Rewards Credit Card at T.J. Maxx, you’ll get “5% back in rewards.” Using your TJMaxx or another TJX shop credit card, you will get five points for every dollar you spend.

When you achieve 1,000 points in your account, a $10 certificate will be created. Points do not expire. Basically, for every $200 you spend, you receive $10 back. It is shipped to you within one to two billing cycles after you achieve 1,000 points; however, certificates are accessible and printable online. Up to two years from the date of issuance, the certificates are valid for the purchase price.

T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra Trading Post, and Homesense locations in the United States and Puerto Rico accept the certificates for use online at or in-store. No third-party gift cards, e-gift cards, or gift certificates may be purchased with them, nor can they be exchanged for cash.

2. Get a 10%-off welcome bonus

When you sign up for a new credit card with a retailer, you’ll often receive a discount as a welcome gift. After you’ve been authorized for a TJX Rewards Card, you’ll receive a 10% off voucher good for your first purchase at T.J. Maxx. However, there are a few limitations attached to this welcome surprise.

To earn the discount, you must first use your new TJX Rewards card to make the transaction. The promo code you receive for submitting an online application is only valid for use on the store website from whence you submitted the application. While the coupon is available online and may be used at any TJX shop in the United States, you can also print it out and use it at any TJX store in the United States.

If you’re approved for a card via mobile device, you can only use your 10% coupon in-store.

3. Special discounts for cardholders

The ability to receive exclusive discounts and invitations to private shopping events is one of the many advantages of owning a TJX Rewards Card. When you apply for the card, you have the option of signing up for special email offers.

4. Relatively high APR

The T.J. Maxx credit card APR is high, as is typical of retail cards. Adding interest to your purchases will almost certainly result in you spending a lot more than you budgeted for your goods if you don’t intend to pay them off each month. High interest payments also mean your incentives aren’t as valuable. You’ll lose money if you obtain a $10 reward certificate but pay $20 in interest.

In general, shop credit cards can only be used for purchases from one particular retailer. Compared to TJMaxx, you can use your TJX Rewards Card at any of the US-based TJX locations, which makes TJMaxx a bit better. T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and Sierra Trading Post are just a few of the places where you may use this card.

However, if you don’t pay off your debt each month, you’ll be paying a high interest rate on the TJX Rewards Platinum Mastercard, and you won’t be earning anything in rewards (only one point per dollar spent at outside brands).

Who should use the T.J. Maxx credit card?

There is no better card for individuals who shop frequently at TJMaxx and its connected brands, as well as those who are devoted customers of the company. Keep track of your points, take advantage of any discounts that may arise throughout the year, and pay off your debt each month to get the most out of this card.

It is also worth noting that the TJMaxx credit card does not have a foreign transaction fee. Using your T.J. A Maxx card while traveling abroad will not cost you a penny, as long as you have the time or ability to create a new credit card account.

T.J. Maxx credit card application procedure

Any TJMaxx location can help you apply for a rewards card. Once you’ve filled out the form, a customer service person will assist you through the rest of the procedure. If you want to apply online, you may do so at Your name, address, phone number, email address, Social Security number, and yearly income are required for both applications. A credit card application cannot be made over the phone.

You’ll be able to see your credit card account information online once you’ve been accepted. You’ll receive monthly statements in either print or electronic form, and you’ll be able to pick which method you prefer. If you choose, you may pay your bill online, through mail, or by phone. T.J. Maxx does not accept payments in-store.
