The American Express Platinum Card Exclusively for Morgan Stanley comes with the same benefits as the ordinary card, but it also has some nice extras. You may have heard of the American Express Platinum Card, but you may not have known that there is a Morgan Stanley-specific version of the card. Only for Morgan Stanley customers, American Express offers a special Platinum Card with all of its perks, but with a few notable exceptions.

It’s important to consider if getting this travel rewards credit card is worth it only for the convenience of linking it to your brokerage account. Is it worthwhile to create an investing account with Morgan Stanley simply to apply for this specific credit card? In order to figure out if the Morgan Stanley American Express Platinum Card is correct for you, consider the information in this review.

Amex Platinum Card Exclusively for Morgan Stanley should be given to whom?

When it comes to frequent fliers, the Amex Platinum Card Exclusively for Morgan Stanley is an excellent option. For those who like the finer things in life, the card offers a slew of advantages. Access to airport lounges and hotel status upgrades are some of the perks that cardholders may take advantage of. Enrollment is required for some benefits.

This card comes with a $695 annual charge, so you should only apply if you intend to use the card’s perks and privileges on a regular basis. A solution exists that effectively eliminates the annual cost. An annual engagement incentive of $550 is available to customers who have both the Amex Platinum Card Exclusively for Morgan Stanley and a Stanley Morgan Platinum CashPlus account. That means you can carry this card around for free.

If you’re not a frequent traveler, you may be better off with one of the top cash-back credit cards instead of this one. Keep in mind, however, that this card is only available to Morgan Stanley clients. In order to be eligible for this card, you must have a Morgan Stanley brokerage account or choose another travel rewards credit card.

American Express’s Platinum Card Benefits and bonuses are only available to Morgan Stanley clients

  • Good-natured gift. Within the first six months of opening your card, you’ll receive 100,000 Membership Rewards points.
  • Invest the money you earn. Incentive points can be used in Morgan Stanley brokerage accounts as a Morgan Stanley account holder’s reward. When used in this manner, points have a value of $0.01.
  • Access to a lounge. With your Platinum Card, you’ll have free access to Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select, Delta Sky Clubs, Airspace, and American Express International Lounges, all of which are located at airports all over the globe.
  • Credit for the Global Entry or TSA Precheck fees. The Global Entry (once every four years) or TSA Precheck application cost refund credit is included with the card (once every 4.5 years).
  • The Fifth Avenue department store, Saks. To receive up to $100 in Saks Fifth Avenue statement credits every calendar year, you must have a Platinum Card from Saks Fifth Avenue. It’s $50 for half of the year and another $50 for half of the year, totaling $75.
  • There are advantages to using Uber. The Uber VIP status of cardholders and up to $200 in yearly Uber credits may be utilized to save money on trips or Uber Eats, respectively.

This card has a few disadvantages

  • Morgan Stanley’s criteria. To be eligible for this card, you must have a Morgan Stanley brokerage account that meets the card’s eligibility standards. No one can acquire this card if they don’t have an account or if they invest through a different brokerage business. The Amex Platinum Card for Schwab, if you already have a Charles Schwab account, is another option.
  • A yearly charge. If you’re a frequent traveler, the $695 annual charge is enough to put you off signing up for the card. You may avoid paying this cost, though, by opening a Stanley Morgan Platinum CashPlus account. This account has a cost, depending on whether or not you fulfill specific conditions for direct deposit and balance.
  • Charges that have been approved by the user. Additional cards (up to three) will cost you $175 per year if you add an additional authorized user.
