With no annual fee and a simple, basic rewards structure that awards 1.25 miles per dollar spent, the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is a great choice for frequent travelers. Neither the amount spent nor the type of items purchased are subject to any restrictions. Any travel-related transaction can be made using accrued miles.

Several other credit cards with similar travel perks compete for attention alongside VentureOne Rewards. A sibling card, Capital One Venture Rewards, with a $95 annual fee and twice as many miles per dollar spent in rewards, is also available. Competition for VentureOne Rewards comes from cards like the Bank of America Travel Rewards Credit Card, which does not charge an annual fee. It also goes up against other travel rewards cards, both generic and brand-specific, with annual fees between $50 and $150, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.

Although the Capital One VentureOne Rewards card does not have an annual fee and has a lower base rewards rate than the Venture Rewards card, it is not a stripped-down version of the Venture Rewards card. Applicants for this card, like those for the Venture card, must have outstanding credit. You probably won’t be approved for this card if you have a history of credit problems or haven’t established enough credit history yet.

Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card Highlights

To sum up, these are the most vital aspects of the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card. The generous first spending incentive and flexible transfer to travel reward partners are features that really impress me. The fact that Capital One would match competitor prices is a pleasant bonus.

Bonus for Spending Early

After making a purchase of $500 or more on your new card during the first three months after account opening, you will earn 20,000 bonus miles. If spent on a trip, that’s equivalent to $200.

Earning Miles with No Hassle

Unlimited 1.25 miles per dollar spent on most purchases with Capital One VentureOne Rewards; 5 miles per dollar spent on hotel and auto rental purchases made via Capital One Travel.

No Hassle Miles Redeeming

Rewards miles can be redeemed for a wide variety of travel-related services, including but not limited to: hotel stays, vehicle rentals, flights, ground transportation (such as trains and taxis), and more, at a constant rate of $0.01 per mile.

There are two ways to get your money back. You may either contact Capital One’s toll-free customer support number to have your miles converted into a statement credit, or you can go into your account online and choose which transactions you’d want your miles applied to.

Second, using Capital One’s online travel platform, you may reserve trips and pay for them with your points. If the total cost of your redemption is greater than the cash value of your miles, you can utilize the miles you have (as long as you use at least 2,500 miles) and pay the difference in cash.

Capital One does allow you to use your miles for things other than travel, such gift cards, statement credits, and purchases, but the value of these options is extremely unpredictable, can change at any time, and is often less than $0.01 per mile.

Transfer to Loyalty Partners in Travel

To redeem your points for a future trip, you can send them to any of the travel retailers who accept Capital One credit cards. While specific names and companies may come and go, expect to see at least a dozen well-known airlines and hotel chains represented.

Introductory APR

For the first 15 months after opening an account, all purchases and balance transfers will be interest free. After then, the Standard Variable APR (which ranges from 17.99% to 27.99% as of this writing) will take effect. There is a 3% charge on the funds transferred within the first 15 months.

Important Fees

There is no yearly fee or additional charge for using the card abroad.

Additional Cardholder Advantages

In addition to the standard perks associated with credit cards, VentureOne Rewards also offers its cardholders the following:

  • Concierge service and booking help are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Travelers can get a replacement emergency card 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Access to prominent events, such as professional sporting events and celebrity golf trips, with preferred seating and/or access.
  • Capital One Dining offers exclusive reservations and experiences.
  • Capital One price match Travel purchases – use Capital One’s advanced price-comparison technology to ensure you receive the best deal even after you book.

Credit Required

You’ll need high to outstanding credit to qualify for this card.

Is the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card a reliable option?

The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is a real thing, so be assured. It’s essentially the same as the popular Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, but it’s priced lower to make it more attainable for those with lower incomes.

In addition to its good ratings from actual cardholders, the Capital One VentureOne Rewards card also has a lot going for it in comparison to other starter travel rewards cards. If you aren’t sure if you’ll be eligible for a premium product, this is an excellent option.

Bottom Line

The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is not the best option if you’re looking for fast rewards or high-end amenities. If you need a card to help you quickly earn free flights or international rewards, there are unquestionably better choices. There are benefits to using a card like VentureOne because of how straightforward it is. With this card, you can easily monitor your points and rewards to earn free or reduced flights.
